About Me

My name is Sylvia. Like my mother before me, I have a gift with dreams. I have vivid dreams several times a week, ever since I can remember. Some are amazing, some are perplexing, and some just wake me up trembling in the middle of the night.

I have learned to live with my dreams. I have also learned how to interpret their meaning. I have done quite a bit of research on the subject, and I have the knowledge, the sense, and the gift to make sense of most of the dream I have or hear about. I do not follow a systematic science, and I do not claim to be an expert, or a psychiatrist, or a psychotherapist, or a psychic, or a fortune teller. All I know is that I am good at dream interpretation, and providing a meaningful analysis.

What I Think of Dreams

The first step in interpreting a dream is realizing that it probably means something. It is not a result of neurons in the brains firing randomly while you sleep. If that were the case, then dreams would be meaningless random images. If dreams were random images, then all the things I experienced in my life that are related to my dreams are coincidences, and there are just way too many of them to be mere coincidences.

No, I believe that most dreams have a meaning, and I have learned to categorize meaningful dreams into three categories:

  1. The Subconcience: this is you talking to yourself in your dream. You are trying to tell yourself something that you may have missed. The subconcience likes to talk in riddles, unfortunately. But this kind of dreams is based on facts that you have already experienced at some point in your life. It is important to know the meaning of those dreams because they are persistent and they can get more and more annoying.

  2. Wishful Thinking: this is you talking to yourself again. But this time, related to hopes or aspirations. This may be in the form of dreaming about good things that you really want to do or to happen to you, even if you do not consciously realize it. Or it may be in the form of bad dreams which show you an alternative reality of what may happen if your hopes are not realized.

  3. The Higher Power: some call it intuition. Others call it extra-sensory perception. I personally relate this power to God. You may relate it to some other power. Basically, these are dreams that contain knowledge that is inexplicable logically. You dream a horrifying dream of dozens of people lying dead on beaches, and, a couple of days later, a tsunami hits. Again, some people may attribute this to coincidence, but, as I said before, having hundreds of "coincidences" is a bit far-fetched. And these dreams are not just about future events. They could be of past events that are totally unrelated to you. Some may be insignificant, but other could have serious explanations.

Why Interpret Dreams?

I personally make every effort I can to try and make sense of every dream I have. Why? Well, if it is my subconcience speaking to me, then I probably need to know what is bugging me deep down inside. If it is a "higher power", then I definitely want to know because there must be a reason why I was trusted with this information. And if my dream is wishful thinking, then I just want to put my mind at ease.

If your dream has you worried enough to make you think twice about it, then it may be a good idea to try to find a meaningful explanation.

Dreams are largely symbolic. By relating those symbols to what they represent, you are well on your way to find an explanation. That's were research comes in handy. But you have to be careful not to take bits and pieces and try to patch them into an explanation that fits your purpose. That is why you need to have a good knowledge of dream symbols in general as they relate to different cultures and different beliefs. Opening up an online dream dictionary and looking up the term "ocean" because you dreamt of the ocean is not likely to give you a meaningful explanation because this symbol was taken out of context.

For those interested, I myself do offer a dream interpretation service of sorts. This should not be misunderstood as a psychological analysis of a dream or a therapy session. What is offer is a detailed explanation of the symbolism in your dreams based on my experience, research, and knowledge. This will save you days or even weeks of research if you want to do it on your own. You can then take this knowledge and apply it to your life experiences to come up with a thorough interpretation. Most dreams can be explained only by relating the symbolism in the dream to life experiences.
